Version 1.28 of Andro Shredder published

Version 1.28 of Andro Shredder has been published on Google Play.

What’s new in this version:

  • The SMS wipe function has been fixed for Android KitKat and newer Android versions. Andro Shredder will now ask to be the default SMS app, when you start the SMS wipe function. This is now a requirement from Android. If you do not accept this with “Yes”, then Andro Shredder can’t write the SMS database. Andro Shredder will ask you to switch back to your preferred SMS app, once the wipe has been finished or cancelled.

Version 1.26 of Andro Shredder published

Version 1.26 of Andro Shredder has been published on Google Play.

What’s new in this version:

  • The Russian help page was using the wrong character set on some devices, which made it unreadable. This was hopefully corrected for all affected devices.
  • The wipe function showed the same physical storage device twice in the list, if there were two logical file systems on it. This was confusing and was corrected. For file selection and search, both devices are still shown, because they may contain different files.

Andro Shredder: New languages

With version 1.23 Andro Shredder is now available in Spanish and Russian language.

The complete user interface and also the extensive help page have been translated using a professional translation service with native speakers as translators.

To complete the localization, the App Store entry has also been translated to these new languages.

Version 1.22 of Andro Shredder published

Version 1.22 of Andro Shredder has been published on Google Play.

What’s new in this version:

  • When you call Andro Shredder from another app (share or send files to Andro Shredder), the shred dialog now opens directly. This allows you to shred files directly, without the previous selection dialogs.
  • An occasional bug was fixes, that caused Andro Shredder to crash during file selection.
  • The app was prepared to support more languages. A translation of the app and the store entry into the following languages is in the works and will be published, as soon as it is available:
    • Spanish language
    • Russian language

Version 1.21 of Andro Shredder published

Version 1.21 of Andro Shredder has been published on Google Play.

  • Advertisements

    Due to the increasing amount of support that it needs, I have decided to add a few non-disturbing ads to the app.
    I hope this is OK, I also wanted to see how all this ad things work and what it will return.

  • Bug fixes

    Some smaller bug fixes and improvements are also in this release. I hope to have identified and fixed a problem that caused some app crashes in the search and file selection pages.

Version 1.19 of Andro Shredder – Emergency Update

Version 1.19 of Andro Shredder has been published on Google Play.

There was an error in the uploaded 1.18 APK version on Google Play, which caused the app to stop immediately after start.
A new APK was built and uploaded, version 1.19 should work without problems now.
Sorry, if that caused any trouble.

  • Added option to select all or just visible search results

    In the search result, you now can select all found items or just the items that are visible on the display.

  • Added option to limit search results

    To prevent from out of memory errors, which can stop the app, a maximum number of search result has been added.
    It can be adjusted at the search screen. Lower it, if you observe memory problems.

  • Fixed mail link in help

    The E-Mail link in the help page was not working.

Version 1.17 of Andro Shredder published

Version 1.17 of Andro Shredder has been published on Google Play.

It adds better support for USB OTG adapters, especially for Samsung phones and tablets.
USB OTG is an abbreviation for USB On-The-Go. If your device supports USB OTG, you can use an adapter to connect usual USB devices like USB flash drives or even SDHC cards to your device.

This release also tries to fix some problems in search. But I am still not happy with the performance and stability of large search results. I will work over the search function and hope to publish an update in the next weeks. It looks like when there are too many files in the result, the app runs out of memory and crashes.

Version 1.16 of AndroShredder published

It fixes a bug in the search all function, which caused the system to do a restart.
Also a memory issue was addressed by this bugfix release.
